Troika! x Barkeep on Borderlands sesh 4
Currently I'm playing with my group a short campaign of Barkeep on Borderlands with Troika! My three-eager-to-play are Witch (ancient undead parchment witch), Assassin (journeyman of guild of sharp corners) and Necromancer (just that). Check pregame and part one and two and three
Rising from Ashes 13:50
After the explosion Necromancer and Assassin jumped to the Witch in order to apply some weird undead-healing vines to her in order to stabilise her. Then they put fragments of unpainted parchment from her backpack in order to hide her face and hands so that no one knows she is a walking mummy. Then they went to Yongardian court cave, treating it as their base.
The Witch decided to rest and eat in order to regain some health. Assassin and Necromancer went to check out another cave. They found this huge cave full of stalagmites and stalactites. There was a small crack in cave ceiling with some liquid running over the wall. It smelled slightly of alcohol and Assassin straight up just started drinking it. Yeah, rum mixed with water and some dust. When going further the darkness became oppressive and they started hearing some squeaks and screeches and backed out quickly.
Then they spoke with the guard who asked them to buy him cigarettes in underground village nearby and gave them 3 shillings. Witch started painting her new parchment skin and since it would take like an hour or so Necromancer and Assassin decided to go to the village without her.
They didn't delve into mysterious dark cave. Considering their adventures here up to this point it is no wonder why.
Catacomb Village Business 14:30
They met with a saurian and dwarf who guarded the way to the village and spoke with them and got information regarding the caves. They learned that the dark cave used to be a tunnel that led saurians out from the deep underground here until some dark spiritual entity settled there.
In the large village cave they asked for Adam, the kobold selling various "apothecary" stuff. They bought two packs for 3 shillings (no one haggled for it, I was willing to sell them three or even four). Additionally they bought a vial of sleeping powder bartering for painkilling mushrooms they found in fungi jungle. The Assassin came up with an idea of selling rusty cleaver he found back in necromancer's lab to local smith and he did. And I felt as if I was playing Witcher 3 or some other game where you sell found trash to vendors. They also found some vertical tunnel that probably served the village as a ventilation, potential way out without paying the Church cut from the treasures.
In the meantime Witch went to check out the cave where judge and prosecutor went to look for their pig-kin, found enormous toadstool, took some of it's hat, took a peek at two tunnels going further and went back.
Twist and Shout 16:10
At 16:00 court guard started his work break and by 16:10 was asleep for a "quick nap". It was also the time that judge and prosecutor were supposed to be back from their pig search. And Necromancer and Assassin went back from the village. The group quickly decided to just take a wizard and his stuff and escort him back to the surface without waiting for Yongardians.
Assassin and Witch went out with the wizard while Necromancer decided to sneak next to sleeping guard and steal evidence material for wizard's case - his wand and stuff - as well as some bonus evidence materials just in case they could be precious. Unfortunately for Necromancer the guard heard him and started attacking with a spear. Fortunately for Necromancer there aren't many people who can stand after being dealt with a Mighty Blow of sleeping powder. Mighty Blow of Sleeping Powder hehehe
The group quickly went to the exit of the catacombs. They saw lights and voices of Yongardians' pursuit in caves behind them. In the cave with exit door (one illuminated by magical contraption) they found young basilisk made it's lair. Assassin did a shot from a crossbow, basilisk failed his hypnosis, Witch used her spell to sword strike from far away and Necromancer ran close and stuck knife in the beast. Then they ran to another cave, hoping to lose pursuers and then to a cave illuminated with red light with huge demon statue (with ruby eyes) and altar painted with blood. And no one chose yet to take statue's eyes.
Tower or rewoT 16:50
From the altar cave the group went to another room and found large thick doors. Assassin of course picked the lock and they came inside. It looked like an inside of stone tower but the stairs led only downwards. After locking the doors behind them and Assassin trying to pretend they are someone else when Yongardians started bashing the door they started looking around. There were many chests and barrels and stuff so they stole a few potions labeled in an unknown tongue (Witch found out two of them were magical, both after smelling found the two mundane ones were something medicinal).
After their shenanigans small Carcass Crawler came there from downstairs but again a barrage of successful rolls allowed the group to catch it and close it in one of the chests without any damage dealt or taken. Then the group decided to do down and check. *Considering the hour they were pressed to find treasures and go out **THE RAVES HAD BEGUN.***
Lower room looked like a bedroom, with a cupboard, a mirror, candle on a handle, and a bed. So Assassin tried to steal the candle, Witch found some pigments and face paint and Necromancer under a pile of blankets found a quite alive cyclops.

Again we had example of another Polish name - Adam the kobold trader. Also some snippets of saurians and their history, a lot of dangerous and mysterious caves that after last shenanigans the players weren't too keen on risking. I decided also to not be stingy with treasures so they found the potions, there was a golden necklace somewhere, pricey stuff if you'd ask me. Now the problem is - when and where they will sell it during the raves?
I was also pretty surprised they decided to cross Yongardians and their pig quest, I was very vocal about humans being turned into people and all that stuff but I guess adventurers are a scum either way. No heroes in this line of work.
I really liked how quick they defeated the basilisk, that they found a bloody altar room. As expected no one took the bait of two large rubies for eyes. I liked somewhat upside down tower, It looks cool in my head.
