Update on Projects
Well, the title of this blog should be "A Child can Dream and cannot Do" because I am a child and I dream a lot about what I want to do yet don't actually do this. Story of my life.
I have moved from MyTraveller/OSR-NSR thing. I actually play in Adventure Game Culture (?) less and less, me and my group tend to lean on FKR, Trad Investigative games and Storygames around Forged in the Dark. In my groups roster of planned games out of 16 positions only 3 are OSR/NSR and all of them are singular adventures. Do I abandon it for all? No, probably not, I will probably still think about it and make notes but if I will play Adventure Game it will be set on DURF or Troika! because I don't have patience for myself to finish it or for other systems.
The projects that actually stay with me are simplifications/optimalisations. I would really like to run an Exalted game for my group but I'd have to be stuck on an island with nothing else to do. No matter which edition, additionally I cannot overstate how disappointed I am with how Exalted Essence didn't deliver on simplification. I'd rather play one of fan versions done on Fate (and I would hate to do it on Fate).
Another thing to do is MyTraveller. I really like how Marc Miller, Cepheus Engine people and Mongoose people did their stuffs but I'm not going to count damage varieties and distances of weapons and shit. Give me a break. Also cascading skills are shit, I can die on this spacehill. And other minor things that really bother me but I don't want to mention. If I was a player I could go with it but as a GM nope. Also one player is mainly Polish-speaking so I'd rather translate this stuff too. So I'm going to actually focus on it, we plan to play it around two years from now. Time is running out for me to make it playable XD
From other news I'm going to keep writing for RPG Blog Carnival, I like that it forces me to do something and challenges me with some topics I need to think on.
Also I would like to write some more about "monsters" and their types and how they could work, I'm not sure why but this stuff started living in my head recently like the Slime Moulds one.
There comes A Second Summer LEGO RPG Jam! https://diyanddragons.blogspot.com/2025/06/a-second-summer-lego-rpg-jam.html so I will try to do something for it. This time maybe less of an adventure and more open setting? I want to do something based on Polar sets I used to play with long time ago. I also really liked Aquanautica https://old-grog.itch.io/aquanautica from last years submissions.
I could work on some play reports but I still haven't found a way to make it entertaining and easy to read. I could probably bullshit my way into it with spoken form as a podcast or video channel but I neither have a voice for it nor gear. Unless you'd like to listen to an old hag with shitty microphone talk about their RPG gaming because that's how I sound apparently. How my players put up with this don't ask me.
See you around. Godspeed in these rough times.
